Meet The Members

Michael S. Thomas

Snare Drum & Founder C.F.O. - A 40 year veteran of Rudimental drumming, Mr. Thomas, originally from upstate New York, was awarded the John Phillips Sousa Award at the early age of seventeen. Growing up in the West point area allowed Mr. Thomas to study with “Hell Cat” Drummers such as Herold Green, John S. Pratt & Nick Anttinasio. Thomas went on to study music at both Berklee College of Music in Boston Mass & Long Island University C.W. Post Performing Arts Center.

After College Thomas performed & Instructed with the following Drum Lines & Fife & Drum Corps.:

  • Floral Park Marching Band (N.Y. Champions) 1984-1992

  • Lt. George Carroll (World Renown Drummer) 2005-2010

  • Lt. Carroll was the "Original" Saint Augustine Drum Shop

Mr. Thomas has dedicated the re-establishment of Old City Drum Corps to his longtime Rudimental Drum instructor & mentor U.S. Army Veteran Master Drum Major George Carroll. The “Original” East Florida Fife & Drum and the start of the first “Night Watch” Parade”. Proud to have been trained under George Carroll. Sr. Drum Sgt. Thomas is honored and excited to share with you “The Corps” vision of the new Old City Drum Corps.

Ernie Crews

Rudimental Bass Drum - Mr. Ernie Crews, A Saint Augustine native attended Jacksonville University before completing a Bachelor,s Degree in Music from the State University of New York in Albany. A veteran of the United States Navy Band, he toured extensively throughout the Pacific Rim as a Goodwill Ambassador bringing the joy of American music to Japan, South Korea, The Philippines, Hong Kong, Thailand, Brunei, Malaysia, Indonesia, and Australia. He also served a tour at Navy Band San Francisco where he performed at the Monterey, Reno and Santa Cruz Jazz festivals as well as numerous clinics & schools ranging from elementary to the college level.
A Jazz drummer by trade, Ernie has a deep love & understating of Brazilian & Afro-Caribbean kinds of music. His music groups incorporate and reflect the joy of these wonderful rhythmic styles. In addition, his military band experience has given him a solid foundation in the disciplines of rudimental drumming. Old City Drum Corps is honored to have yet another fine veteran performing on our Drum Line.

Ray Harding

Snare Drum Mr. Ray Harding is a Florida native having grown up in Jacksonville attending Andrew Jackson High school and a member of the Drum & Bugle Corp during his tenure there. Ray is a proud graduate with the class of 1962. After graduation Ray left Florida to serve with the United States Army in San Antonio, Texas where he was an instructor of dental science. Upon discharge of the United States Army, Ray perused a career in telecommunications that lead to a lifetime career in West Virginia.
Mr. Harding's love of percussion is only rivaled only by his love of GOD., Family & firefighting. From the time Ray was a young boy when he wasn’t practicing on his snare drum, you would find him at station 11 Jacksonville fire Department where those men taught Ray the value of hard work, respect and family. Ray went on to be named an honorary member of the Jacksonville Fire Department, a member of the Vienna Volunteer Department, Vienna West Virginia, Chaplain of the VVFD as well as Fire Fighter Of The Year.
Mr. Ray Harding has recently returned to his roots in Florida and settled in Saint Augustine with his wife, two daughters, and family. Ray proudly has come full circle and picked up his Rudimental Drumming once again. Old City Drum Corps welcomes Ray Harding to “The Corps”.

Robbie Zukauskas

Line Chief - Fife Player - Is a Florida native who has lived in Saint Augustine since 1994. She is a saxophone player who doubles on numerous instruments including flute/piccolo, clarinet, bassoon, penny whistle, recorder, and uilleann pipes. Zukauskas attended UFC, and graduated with a B.A. including a minor in music. Robbie Zukauskas is a veteran of the US Army (1st US Army Band and The United States Continental Army Band). The Florida Army National Guard (13th Army Band). Highlights of her Military time include being a featured saxophone soloist for the US Army Bands summer concert series in 1985, performing for the international trombone Festival with the United States Continental Army Band, and Goodwill Tours in the Dominican Republic and Morocco with the 13th Army Band. After leaving the Army, she was a police officer in North Palm Beach & Saint Augustine., and currently works as a paralegal for the State Attorney,s Office in Jacksonville.
For many years Robbie has participated as a musician (Fife, Flute, Recorder) with the 7th Connecticut field music and the Saint Augustine Fife & Drum Groups for numerous reenactments, including cannon firings at the fort, the Menendez Birthday, The Spanish Night Watch, and The British Night Watch. She currently participates in various local music ensembles, including the Saint Augustine Concert Band, The Fascinating Rhythm Orchestra and the Northeast Florida Conservatory Concert Band & Jazz Band. Old City Drum Corps is honored to have Zukauskas as a Fife Player & Line Chief for the Corps.

Flo Wolfe Sharp

Flo Wolfe Sharp Ed.D. has been an avid musician since the age of 9. She has played flute & piccolo in award-winning High School and College Bands, and received superior ratings as a soloist In a West Virginia High School. Over the past 17 years, Flo has played with community concert bands in Ohio and Florida. She also serves as an instrumentalist at the Cathedral-Basilica of Saint Augustine.
Flo holds an undergraduate degree in English and advanced degrees in educational technology. She has had a long & interesting career in technology, including running a documentation, training and web development consultancy. Flo continues to work as an independent consultant and is an assistant dean of curriculum in the information Technology program at an On-Line University. In addition to music, Flo enjoys distance running and spending time in the great outdoors.
